Last week I tried to do my own PR to promote my brand new podcast, Not Another Leaflet and here’s a few things that I learned! Firstly, it’s always easy to get press coverage for something that is brand new-so I wrote a quick press release. I have a press release news template in my digital shop and I just follow it each time!
My main reason for doing PR was when you currently google ‘Not Another Leaflet’ a lot of random things come up-I’m hoping if I get enough coverage then it’ll be all my podcast! I had the press release featured in a few places-Parenting Daily and Wellbeing News. I also posted in lots of groups to connect with others to find guests and booked a podcast to go on as a guest-as well as emailing local news.
PITCH IT: The Home Ed Daily is looking for content for their site-this can be submitted directly - https://www.thehomeeddaily.co.uk/
DO IT: Let’s talk media bios! Do you have one? If not, it's something I recommend crafting before you start pitching!
Ideally, you’d need two types: a one-liner for when you’re quoted and a paragraph version for when you’ve written the whole article.
Remember to write it in 3rd person and focus on you and your expertise!
